One sometimes wonders whether the so-called ‘elites’ – whom this author would rather describe as parasites – have any sense of ethical or moral propriety.

An excellent post Mr. Olivier. When I think of all my friends and family, very decent, kind, trusting people all, who willingly followed the mandates and took the jabs - I find they all share one thing in common. They simply cannot fathom that our "betters" could possibly act with the coldly psychopathic brutality that they in fact did and do act quite routinely. They cannot allow themselves to imagine that level of amoral indifference to human life and human suffering.
As a retired clinical social worker I have encountered my share of psychopaths in the course of a 40 year career. As someone who also came to analyzing the pandemic response from a lifetime of human rights involvement including decades devoted to the study of American foreign policy propaganda operations - I had long before discarded my rose colored glasses when it came to the complete amorality of elite sectors and their minions.
Because most people are by and large quite decent, they cannot really imagine "themselves" acting in such psychopathic fashion - and because they have not necessarily ever really knowingly looked evil in the eye and recognized it - I think they are able to maintain a state of psychological denial that allows them "not to see" what is clearly right in front of them when it comes to recognizing the basic psychopathy of the entire power structure.
