I appreciate your standing and, had you been in my area or me in yours, I would have voted for you. But in general I have reservations about the rise of mayors in the UK. Having done some research about how they're being pushed from the top despite little evidence of public demand and how their policy priorities are influenced by a global network funded by a small number of philanthropists, I feel the posts are too susceptible to being manipulated to further The Agenda. While people are increasingly aware that councils are often not working in their interests, they have yet to wise up to mayors and still seem to believe what they're being told by the likes of Khan. Bristol did well in abolishing the mayoralty.
This just about mayors. I still believe there are myriad ways we can and should change things.
Thank you Jonathan. Your detailed entry in the candidate booklet was the only one that actually stated any policies and what you stand for. The others were filled mostly with photos and meaningless fluff. I was glad to be able to vote for you.
